Drevni Asteci su smatrali da su pre našeg doba postojala 4 doba ili "sunca": Sunce vode, Sunce vatre, Sunce vazduha i Sunce zemlje, a da mi trenutno živimo u dobu pokreta i to u vreme kada se taj period približava svom kalendarskom kraju. Ispitujući znakovnost koja se nalazi u pokretu, film "Feniksov san" uzima oblik omnibusa snova, odnosno dnevnika snova koji predstavlja potragu snevača za njegovom izgubljenom ljubavlju.
